Preparation of IHM (Inventory of Hazardous Materials)

As NAVISTA MARINE, we are ready to assist you in compiling and updating of HazMat documentation such as IHM (Inventory of Hazardous Materials) and AFD (Asbestos Free Declaration).

Hazmat
An Inventory of Hazardous Materials provides information regarding the hazardous materials on board a ship. The report indicates which materials (such as PCBs, asbestos, radioactive substances and hexavalent chromium) are present, where they are stored and the volume carried.

The IHM report is a dynamic document and covers the full life cycle of a ship. The report is updated from the ship’s keel laying and throughout its active service life, remaining in place until it is finally decommissioned and dismantled. An IHM is an integral part of the Hong Kong Convention (HKC), adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2009. International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships to address the growing concerns about the environmental, occupational health and safety risks related to ship recycling. The aim of the Hong Kong Convention is to provide a legally binding instrument which ensures that the process of ship recycling does not pose risks to human health, safety and to the environment. A similar regulation came into force in the European Union in 2013: the new European Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SSR). Both required an IHM for all vessels. The responsibility for the preparation and possession of the IHM is indirectly attributed to the ship or fleet owner, or more directly to the technical management of the ship.

Our expert staff ensures that your HazMat documents comply with international regulations and class rules.
